My favourite Music of 2015 Part 1: Bollywood round-up

I decided to write a round up of my favourite Music of 2015. I have listened to a lot of good (and new) Music this year and so thought it would be a good idea to share my recommendations. I know we are only in October but if I do add any more favourites to the list, rest assured this post will be updated! Part 1 focuses on Bollywood, Part 2 will be Indi-pop and Part 3 will feature Western Music!

My favourite list begins with Himeshji’s first song of the year (as a singer) – ‘Bulbul’ from the film Hey Bro. Composed by Music Directors Nitz n Sony, Himeshji bought their funky composition ‘Bulbul’ to life. The song also has female vocals by Shreya Ghoshal. This was the first upbeat and happy Bollywood song of 2015. I also enjoyed listening to the entire album of ‘Hey Bro’. Such diverse genres featuring together on one soundtrack is pretty extraordinary! My picks from the album include ‘Bulbul’ and ‘Birju’.

My Music Review of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’

My Music review: Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Jukebox:

The most awaited Bollywood album of the year ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ saw its music release on 10th October 2015. The songs made their debut at YouTube on Saturday and became an instant hit across Social Media.

The album has been composed by my favourite Himesh Reshammiya and in his own way, he has almost given homage to the Bollywood songs of the 1990s and of Rajshri cinema. The album opens with the upbeat ‘Prem Leela’ . With vocals by one of my favourite singers of today, Aman Trikha, ‘Prem Leela’ is the introductory song to Salman Khan’s character in the film. I do believe it is one of the first songs that Himeshji has composed which depict a story through its lyrics, therefore making it a highly situational song. Aman’s strong vocals and effortless change of expression against Himeshji’s festive Music make ‘Prem Leela’ an enjoyable song to listen to.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo: A Musical Treat of the Decade

Last week in the world of Bollywood, fans saw the most awaited trailer release, from one of the most loved film production houses Rajshri productions. Director Sooraj Barjatya and his team released the trailer of their magnum opus ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’.

At a star studded event held in Mumbai, Sooraj ji along with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, talked about the film and its trailer at the launch. My main reason for talking about this film is it’s Music which has been created by my favourite Music Director Himesh Reshammiya.

Trailer of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’

Even after the trailer launch, the most talked about aspect of the trailer on Social Media, was the title song which has been wonderfully composed by Himeshji. Since the past one year, there has been much talk and speculation about the films Music and whether or not it would live up to the reputation of previous Rajshri films but the title song itself, has proved that yes, it will!

Sung by Palak Muchhal, the title song of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo clearly reminds us of the melodious Music and good lyrics that have since been lost in Bollywood. Himeshji has made sure to bring this sound back and give us another timeless melody.

The full Music album of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is expected to release on 10th October 2015. Be sure to listen to this Musical treat and refresh your minds with the Music that was once Bollywood’s identity!
