I truly love writing a new Music Monday post, and it seems that the artists who will feature this week, are making another consistent appearance here at Girl at the Piano! I am of course, talking about the awesome band Sanam!
Sanam have been wonderfully consistent with their releases, and their latest is a very rare treat. They have recently released their cover of the famous Spanish/Mexican folk song La Bamba. Sanam Puri has been given the chance to show his multi linguistic skills by singing in Spanish, and bandmate Venky S also joins him on the vocals!
This is a very brave attempt from them, and risky too as they have stepped away from their comfort zone. They have done a commendable job with the song and are sure to bring back many memories to many Music lovers! Enjoy the video below and do share with me in the comments below, when was the first time you heard La Bamba?

I finally finished learning and recording another one of my piano solos recently. The song this time, is a romantic Bollywood number Dil Ne Kar Liya Aetbaar (translates as My Heart Believes in You Now) from the romantic thriller film Humraaz which released in 2002.
The song has been composed by my favourite Music Director Himesh Reshammiya, and I think this is one of my best piano solos of one of his songs, till date! While the introduction of the song starts on a piano, I was amazed at how well the full song sounded as a piano solo and that is what made me decide to record it. Check out my piano solo of the song and the original song below. Feedback is always welcome!
Original song credits: singers Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan. Composer Himesh Reshammiya Lyrics: Sudhakar Sharma

We have reached that time of the month where I share one of my favourite golden oldie songs. Last month I chose a Bollywood golden oldie Oodhli Chunariya from the Bollywood film Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, and this month, I will be sharing another Western golden oldie song which is Not That Kind by one of my favourite female musicians Anastacia.
Not That Kind ~ Anastacia
Not That Kind is such a groovy song, that is sure to make you want to sing a long with it and make all of us ladies very proud of ‘Girl Power’. I clearly remember the time when the song released, and that was when I saw Anastacia for the first time. I felt in awe of her amazingly powerful vocals, and also I was majorly impressed with her composing skills.
On 22nd April, the gorgeous Anastacia replied to my tweet about this post here:
Let me know in the comments below if this is one of your favourite songs and do share with me your favourite golden oldie!
It gives me great pleasure in writing this post, as Arya Entertainment continue to progress so well!
Their third single release Piya Reprise (composed and written by Viraal, sung by Jubin Nautiyal) has recently crossed the 2 million mark at YouTube, and has also been trending at the number one spot on YouTube India!
As well as this amazing feat, Arya Entertainment have become part of the Take007 Music for a Cause project, which is headed by Bollywood Music directors Salim-Sulaiman. More details about this project here.
If the above is not enough, the latest announcement is that Arya Entertainment is now associated with the biggest Music label in India T-Series and their talented composer Viraal’s songs will now be released on a worldwide scale!
Girl at the Piano gives many congratulations to Arya Entertainment for reaching new heights in such a short space of time. As we begin to see a steady decline in the world of Bollywood Music, the independent Music scene, is surely going through a revival and what a revival it is gonna be! Stay tuned with Girl at the Piano for all future updates!
During my recent sessions of listening to my favourite Music, I listened to three Bollywood songs in a row which all featured the same theme – a heartbreak or unrequited love. What struck me the most about these three songs, is just how strong in melody they are. There are many songs where the lyrics tend to be stronger than the Music and to be honest, that is what one would expect in this genre of song. Yet in each of these three songs, it is the other way round.
The wonderful songs that I am talking about are:
Menu Kehn De from Aap Se Mausiiquii
Dard E Tanhai Main from Jashnn
Haaye Dil single by Jubin Nautiyal
I highly recommend listening to these three songs and noticing their Musical qualities. What are your favourite heartbreak songs? Do share them in the comments below!
After a long time, I have recorded my next piano solo. I had originally planned to record this song in 2015, but somehow, that never happened! Ae Mere Humsafar from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was recently performed on my favourite Music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs and so I decided to re-learn the song and record it.
Ae Mere Humsafar is a beautiful love song from a very popular 90’s Bollywood classic hit film which starred Juhi Chawla and Aamir Khan in the lead roles of their debut. The films soundtrack is considered to be evergreen and has been composed by the then popular duo of Anand-Milind.
Enjoy my piano solo of the song, below.
