We have entered an auspicious time of the year with the festival of Navratri that lasts for 9 days, and is widely celebrated across India. If you would like to know more about this festival, I highly recommend using Google to learn more about it. During this religious festival, many Indians dance in a traditional form of ‘Garba’, and so this form of dance requires a special kind of song and Music.
As Navratri is a popular yearly event, it has featured in many Bollywood films, thus creating a filmi sound of the festival. I have selected a few of my favourite Bollywood style Garba songs below. Do let me know if any of these are your favourites too!

This month’s golden oldie song is a Bollywood one, and has been composed by Music director duo Jatin-Lalit. The song is the melodious 90’s classic Vaada Raha Sanam from Khiladi!
Vaada Raha Sanam – Khiladi
The reason behind choosing this song, is that I personally feel it represents the romantic era of the 90’s very well, has a beautiful melody and meaningful lyrics – all of which are missing in today’s Music! It is the most memorable song from the Akshay Kumar starrer Khiladi, and has a duet version, as well as a male solo. The duet has decent picturisation and has been sung by Alka Yagnik and Abhijit Bhattacharya. I am currently trying to learn this timeless melody on the piano, and if I manage to, then you can be sure to expect a piano solo of the song soon!
If Vaada Raha Sanam from Khiladi also features in your Bollywood classic list, do tell me why in the comments!

Anastacia has just released her latest studio album Evolution. Known for her super hit songs like I’m Outta Love and Not That Kind, Anastacia has developed a stronger music style over the years, which showed even on her last album Resurrection (2014), and she has taken it one step further on Evolution. Having battled through several unfortunate illnesses, when listening to Evolution, it almost feels like we are hearing a personal memoir which showcases Anastacia’s triumphs during these tough times of her life. The album has 13 strong tracks (9 of which have been co-written by Anastacia) with powerful song titles:
Caught in the Middle
Nobody Loves Me Better
Not Coming Down
…and you can say that each track almost shows a different side to Anastacia’s musical personality!

It has been a while since I had recorded a new piano solo, and so I recently managed to learn the beautiful, evergreen and romantic You’re Still The One by Shania Twain.
You’re Still The One is from Shania’s extremely popular album Come on Over, and this song has always been a favourite of mine, with her soothing vocals, piano interludes. I have been lucky enough to get hold of the piano sheet music of the song, and due to its simple melody, I was able to learn the song fairly quickly! If you haven’t heard the song before, listen to it below and then listen to my piano solo. As always, feedback is welcome!

As recently mentioned, the latest single to release from Arya Entertainment is called Keh Do Naa, and the single has released on Zee Music Company! The song has been written and composed by Viraal, sung by singers Mohit Gaur and Sonia Patel, and is produced by Arya Entertainment.
The title clearly hints at the romantic angle, and it will be lovely to hear India’s RAWStar finalist Mohit sing in this genre, alongside newcomer Sonia. Enjoy the song and video below and don’t forget to share your thoughts with us!

This weeks new Music Monday release is the latest single from the fantastic four SANAM! Regular readers, will know that I always feature new releases from India’s popular band SANAM here at the blog.
Their latest release is what they call a #SANAMrendition and is their take on the retro classic Dil Kya Kare from the Bollywood film Julie. The video shows highlights from the bands recent concerts, including Amsterdam which is also where the majority of the video has been shot. The video also gives major boy band vibes, as we get to see behind the scene clips and masti of the fabulous four! These parts of the video remind me of Westlife’s video When You’re Looking Like That.
